The Start

As co-owner and creator of escape rooms in the Netherlands, Stephan came up with the idea of integrating high-tech marble runs into one of his new rooms. This idea was put into the closet as other ideas had higher priorities.

Pandemic Epiphany

Fast forward to January 2020, Covid. Due to the first corona wave all escape rooms in the Netherlands had to close temporarily.

And then, while browsing the internet, he stumbled upon a successful kickstarter project. That project triggered Stephan’s high-tech marble run idea again. So he rolled up his sleeves and he started to work, 7 days a week, 16 hours a day.

Hello? It's me.

Stephan presented the first ideas to his friends and family. And together with the like-minded kinfolk, he started to discuss the why and the how in relation to bringing his idea to the market.

It's alive!

Stephan, Peter, Stan and Chris incorporated Marblelous Tech B.V.

In the meantime, Stephan’s basement turned into a full blown development center with more than ten 3D printers.

I was born in it, molded by it.

We selected an engineering company to turn our first design into a design that can be created with an injection mold. Printers were working overtime printing all prototypes.

Look, marketing!

We teamed up with a marketing agency specialized on crowdfunding as we want to offer our product on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.com in February 2021.

Oh no, marketing..

At this point we reached rock bottom marketing wise. We had little to no experience in this area and had a bad encounter with the marketing agency. Both parties decided to part, after several months of investing time, and money. This put us financially in a very bad spot. We nearly quit everything altogether. But our team spirit kept us going. Lesson well learned.

Something about an apple and a tree

Stephan’s father, Geert, our technical advisor, designed, together with Stephan, the first printed circuit board. However, we needed an expert in this field and Cornelius (or “Qees” as we call him internally) supported us since then.

Thank you Peter

Peter has to make the hard decision to leave the company due to personal developments. He still keeps a close contact with the team.

Dennis and a Milestone

Dennis started to support us as the graphic designer of the Marblelous Game and got more involved in the marketing related activities; brand guide, website and many more things.
Qees, Stephan and Geert finished the final design of the PCB, a big milestone for Marblelous Tech.

Mold of Dreams

We received our final designs for the injection molds. The engineering company did a great job, even though the project sometimes felt like a never ending story. In total, we need to create around 50 injection molds. Financing has been secured as the project is turning bigger and bigger.

In the same month, we directly agreed with the injection mold company to start producing the injection molds. Another big milestone.

Let it go!

The printer circuit board costs turned out to be too expensive. Stephan didn’t want to let go of functionalities, because they are just way too cool. We need to step up our game and start digging into the PCB world.

Come to Papa!

First parts from the injection molds are coming in. Unbelievable. After 1,5 years of hard work, we are holding a (near) final product in our hands. However, we noticed that the work is not done. Small tweaks are still necessary and are costing much time.

Carla, Carla, Charmeleon

We hired Carla, a marketing specialist that is going to support us in putting Marblelous on the map. The company starts to grow.

Website

We relaunched our website. We added one new cool product to our product range. Besides that, as we were not happy about the quality of the spiral, it already had a make-over to make it easier to build, especially for the younger audiences. Additionally, the process to receive the necessary certifications (e.g. CE mark, etc.) is started.
